Frequently Asked Questions

Coaching for dyslexia and dyspraxia

What can I expect in my first appointment?

In the first coaching appointment we would look at your diagnostic report – if you have one – and use that as the basis of a discussion to plan which skills and strategies you want to develop. If you don’t have a report, we can still have that discussion based on your own analysis of your needs and development. The first session is a good opportunity for both of us to get an understanding of how each other works, and we can also discuss specific skills if that is appropriate or preferred.

How many sessions will I need?

That is a question that is not possible to answer because it depends upon what your requirements are and your response to the coaching, and how you are able to absorb and adapt the new strategies and techniques. It can be helpful to think in terms of 3-6 sessions giving you a clear idea of how the coaching is working for you. But perhaps the most important point to make is that it is entirely your choice to book appointments and it is important that you choose what feels right for you.

How often do I have to book a session?

The answer to this question is also that the frequency of sessions is entirely your choice. I would not pressure you to make an appointment and the timing of an appointment will depend on your schedule and circumstances.

What is the cost of a session?

The cost of a coaching session is £70 per hour which implies 50 minutes of discussion and practice time. You can pay by cash, cheque or card.

What if I need to cancel or re-arrange a session, or if I arrive late?

It is important that you give at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Without adequate notice, I reserve the right to charge the full fee for a missed or cancelled session. Please aim to arrive a few minutes early or on time for the appointment. If you are late, we will work with the remaining time of the session and you will be charged the full fee.

Where will the session be held?

In London, dyslexia coaching only is offered in consulting rooms in Tavistock House, Tavistock Square, WC1H 9HX on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

In London, CranioSacral Therapy, Sound Massage and Dyslexia coaching are offered at Evolve Wellness, 10 Kendrick Mews, South Kensington, SW7 3HG on Thursday evenings.

In Harrow, all therapies and coaching are offered on Thursday mornings and on Fridays at Rutland Road, HA1.

How do I book my first appointment?

You can either email me or phone me to arrange an appointment. We can have a brief chat about your aims for the coaching and then fix a date and time.

Body therapies – Upledger CranioSacral Therapy, Peter Hess® Sound Massage, holistic massage, and yoga

What can I expect in my first appointment?

In your first body therapy appointment we will talk through the simple medical and personal history details that you will have completed on the form that was emailed in advance to you. We will also talk about your aims and hopes from the session(s) and any of your questions. You will then be asked to take off your shoes and to lie on the comfortable treatment couch. CranioSacral Therapy and Peter Hess® Sound Massage are both full-clothed therapies. Only for holistic massage would you need to remove some of your clothes.

How many sessions will I need?

That is a question that is not possible to answer because it depends upon what your requirements are, your response to the therapy, and how much you want to explore in relation to your wishes and needs. It can be helpful to think in terms of 3-6 sessions giving you a clear idea of how the therapy is working for you. But perhaps the most important point to make is that it is entirely your choice to book appointments and it is important that you choose what feels right for you.
